Advancement of women and equal treatment at BUWOG

For International Women's Day on 8 March 2021, BUWOG is inviting its employees to online lectures by two renowned women from the film and media industry: Ursula Daume, managing director of IWB Werbe- und Mediaagentur, talks about her personal experience with women's advancement and the challenges on her career path. Lena Reichmuth is a film actress and executive coach and will delve into the subjects of body language, voice as well as role-making during the lecture. The aim of both lectures is to raise further awareness of women's advancement among the BUWOG staff and to communicate strategies of action for a strong and self-confident appearance.

BUWOG builds on equal treatment 

"We are aware of our responsibility to promote gender equality and will continue to make our contribution to this in our sphere of influence – whether in the form of lectures or by implementing measures that contribute to opportunities for the advancement and development of women to achieve their personal goals," says Valerija Karsai, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH. Karsai was recently listed in TREND as one of the most influential business women in Austria. 

Overall, the share of women at BUWOG in the past financial year was above average at 63 percent, especially in the real estate sector – the proportion of women in management positions is just under 40 percent. In addition to Valerija Karsai, this also includes part-time managers: "We are particularly proud to have optimised our part-time offer as part of the certification for the berufundfamilie audit. There are always reports of the 'part-time trap' – we are counteracting this by also opening the doors to high-ranking positions for women, regardless of whether they are employed full-time or part-time," Karsai explains. There is also intensive support for those on maternity leave, which helps a smooth return to the company.
