BUWOG: 168 affordable apartments ready to move into in Leopoldstadt

  • Transfer of keys for 164 apartments and four terraced housing units
  • An even greater amount of affordable housing in the second district

In a festive setting on 16 July 2019, the keys were handed over to the new residents of the BUWOG project at Vorgartenstraße 98-106. Here a total of 164 rental apartments and four terraced housing units were built as part of the Vienna Housing Initiative (VHI). Together with Uschi Lichtenegger, district manager of the second district, Andreas Holler, managing director of development at BUWOG Group GmbH, symbolically handed over the key to the new home to tenants of the recently completed project. "With the development of this project, we are very pleased to have helped make an even greater amount of affordable housing available in the second district. It is important to me and to BUWOG to develop apartments that can be financed by a broad section of the population, and at this location we have succeeded at this in the scope of the Vienna Housing Initiative", says Andreas Holler.

High level of residential quality in 1020

The two- to four-room apartments have approximately 58 sqm to 111 sqm of floor area and feature open spaces such as a terrace, loggia or private garden and are fitted on the basis of BUWOG's customary high quality standards. The architectural firm BEHF Ebner Hasenauer Ferenczy ZT GmbH is responsible for the architecture. With the modern and bright clinker façade, a new building on Vorgartenstraße has been developed that blends in perfectly with its surroundings. In addition to a total of 168 residential units, there is also a shop on the ground floor. The spacious common areas offer plenty of space to relax and spend time and also have a playground for small children and young people. The location near the former Nordbahnhof railway station means the project is optimally situated: motorists can be at Handelskai in a few minutes and quickly reach the A23 via the Reichsbrücke bridge. Parking is available in the building's underground car park with 82 parking spaces. A U1 underground station and bus stations are not far away.
