BUWOG celebrates 70th anniversary with anniversary campaign across countries


Since its foundation in 1951, BUWOG has developed into Austria's most active private developer and is also no less active in Germany. Today, the company's claim of "Happy Living" stands for quality housing and neighbourhood development, innovation and sustainability – values it is creatively communicating to a broad target group across countries as part of its 70th anniversary campaign.

In autumn 2021 the focus is entirely on BUWOG's 70th anniversary. Together with design and web agency The Gentlemen Creatives, an integrated communication campaign has been developed that has been celebrating on nearly every channel since the beginning of September and through the end of October. The focus of the message is the real estate company's core values: sustainability, housing and neighbourhood development, and innovation.

"We are taking the anniversary as an opportunity to highlight BUWOG's wide-ranging and marvellous achievements over the past decades and, of course, to celebrate with the employees of every BUWOG location, i.e. Vienna, Carinthia, Graz, Salzburg, Berlin, the Rhine-Main region, Leipzig and Hamburg," says Ingrid Fitzek-Unterberger, BUWOG’s director of Marketing and Communications in Austria and Germany.

The campaign is based on four subjects that vividly and creatively highlight the aforementioned values on the one hand and the anniversary on the other – they are the basis for BUWOG’s extensive advertising in print and online media as well as on social media. The placement of radio spots and out-of-home advertising in the form of branded trams and buses, city lights and branded screens in underground areas complement the external presence, as does the anniversary section set up on the BUWOG website (www.buwog.at/de/geburtstag), where comprehensive information about BUWOG as well as a prize competition can be found. New articles about the anniversary, the history of BUWOG and its plans for the future will be posted regularly during the campaign on the BUWOG blog (blog.buwog.com/). What makes BUWOG special has also been summarised in a short, partially animated image film. This can be seen on BUWOG’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/BUWOGGruppe) from 8 October.

There’s no anniversary without treats, of course: In Hanau, flyers and organic BUWOG cookies were distributed as part of a promotional campaign. In Vienna and Villach, a branded Espresso-mobile will be in operation, providing passers-by with coffee and cupcakes at traffic hubs – in the pedestrian zone in Villach on 5 October and in Vienna on 6 October (Votivpark), 7 October (Stadtpark) and 8 October (DC Tower).

The anniversary is a welcome opportunity to celebrate together again after nearly two years of pandemic – of course in strict compliance with the respective Covid-19 safety regulations. Our colleagues from Germany already celebrated the anniversary on 23 September in Berlin. On 7 October, the anniversary will be celebrated at the BUWOG Customer and Administrative Centre in Vienna. The first event will be a matinee, to which guests from the real estate, architecture, political and business sectors will be invited, followed by a party for the employees of BUWOG’s Austrian locations.
