BUWOG wins “Great Place to Work” award

  • First-time certification as GPTW for Austria’s most active private developer
  • Solid survey procedure provides information on workplace culture and human resources measures
  • At 92%, an especially high participation rate in the company

There’s an enormous sense of delight at BUWOG: Following an employee survey in autumn 2021 by the Great Place to Work research and consulting institute, BUWOG has now been certified as such. The award recognises BUWOG’s activities and qualities as an employer. “It fills me with pride that our employees have given such a positive assessment of our ongoing commitment to continuously improve our working environment and employee satisfaction. The recognition and appreciation shown to us by our entire team demonstrate to us that together we’re on the right track,” Kevin Töpfer, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH, says. This is also reflected in the particularly high participation rate of 92 percent.

Astrid Lassner, director of Human Resources Management, adds: “We accept this award as motivation to continue supporting our employees’ interests in the future. In the last few years, we’ve been able to implement an employee participation programme, an apprentice and trainee programme, a childcare programme during the autumn holidays and hold exciting keynote lectures on a variety of topics, such as the advancement of women, thereby responding to our employees’ wishes.”

Promise for the future

Back in autumn 2019, BUWOG employees had the opportunity for the first time to anonymously rate their employer using the structured questionnaire from Great Place to Work. "We took the thoroughly positive results and the open and honest feedback from back then as an opportunity to both further develop the organisation and strengthen our responsibility towards our employees in order to offer an optimal working environment”, Töpfer says. That this has paid off is shown, for example, by the statement “All in all, I can say this is a very good place to work”, which 93 percent of the participating employees agreed with in the current survey. “This represents an increase of 11 percentage points compared to the 2019 survey and is an incredibly fantastic result.” The Trust Index is also a particular highlight. It describes the mean value of the approval rates across the core statements of the Great Place to Work questionnaire. “We were able to achieve an increase from 69 to 84 percent. For us, this result is proof that our efforts to implement the feedback from the first survey in 2019 are seen and are also bearing fruit.”

“With the detailed evaluation of the survey results, the real work begins for us now,” Kevin Töpfer adds in conclusion: “We’re that we can’t rest on our laurels, and we don’t want to. Our managers will therefore discuss the results with their teams in the coming weeks and derive measures on that basis. Together with our staff, our aim is to improve what is already working well and to exploit further potential for improvement.”
