HELIO TOWER: shell of 173 apartments from the “Vienna Housing Initiative” completed

  • “Halfway point” in the construction of the 34 floors and approximately 110-metre-high tower in the urban development area “The Marks”
  • Strong demand for condominiums: 40% already placed
  • High quality of amenities, perfect transport connections and a marvellous view over the city

The construction of HELIO TOWER, one of BUWOG's biggest new building projects at present, has reached the "halfway point": The shell of first 17 of the 34 above-ground floors of the around 110-metre-high tower have now been completed, with the height of the structure now approximately 58 metres. A total of 173 apartments of the Vienna Housing Initiative from 41 m² to 124 m² will be built. Completion of the entire property is planned for the end of 2022.

"The considerable share of Vienna Housing Initiative apartments in such an extraordinary and high-quality property as the HELIO TOWER underscores BUWOG's enormous commitment to affordable housing," BUWOG Managing Director Andreas Holler says. "Mainly young people will be moving into the Vienna Housing Initiative apartments. At especially this location, which with its large event hall will become one of Vienna’s most important entertainment centres, this is an important quality for the project as a whole and makes the privately financed condominiums even more attractive.”

Executive City Councillor for Housing and Deputy Mayor Kathrin Gaál on BUWOG's large-scale project: "A key factor of success of the Viennese housing model has always been that Vienna builds for every need. The city has always retained direct control over a large segment of its housing, which has a dampening effect on prices on the entire housing market. In addition to this, however, there has always been and still is sufficient scope for innovation and new projects. With this in mind, I’m quite pleased that HELIO TOWER is a genuine enrichment for our city of Vienna.”

With 401 modern apartments, HELIO TOWER is a central component of the urban development area "The Marks" on the former site of the MGC Plaza in Vienna's 3rd district. Inspired by the sun god Helios, the name comes from the creative architecture, which ensures residents have a particularly ample amount of light and sun. During construction, special emphasis was placed on sustainability through, for example, a sustainable mobility plan: there is space for 2,000 bicycles in a bicycle arcade which is one-of-a-kind in Austria, and as many as 27 charging stations with smart load management are available in the underground car park.
