Opening of retailer and school: another milestone for the BUWOG project RIVUS

  • Innovative concept of use combines local supplier, educational and sports facility
  • Overall RIVUS project has around 800 apartments and extensive infrastructure
  • Entire complex to be completed in August 2022

Another phase of construction was completed this week in BUWOG's large-scale RIVUS project on Breitenfurter Straße in the 23rd district of Vienna. A multifunctional commercial building featuring a local supplier, a primary school with 17 classes as well as an associated rooftop sports facility opened on Monday, 6 July in the centre of the complex, which comprises around 800 apartments. In the interest of sustainable project development, a photovoltaic system has been installed there to cover a part of the demand for electricity.

"With this segment in the heart of the complex, we were able to bring to fruition a highly unusual concept that is unparalleled in Austria: our multifunctional building plan, which combines a local supplier and an educational and sports facility, saves space and provides the necessary infrastructure for the residents", says Andreas Holler, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH, who is responsible for development. The opening of the INTERSPAR hypermarket, which offers a comprehensive range of products for daily needs on 3,200 sqm, took place on Monday. The all-day elementary school for over 400 schoolchildren will come alive this fall when school begins.

Family-friendly housing with considerable recreational value

The RIVUS project will comprise around 800 rental and owner-occupied apartments by the time it is finished in 2022. Around 500 units have already been completed and placed. Finally, construction of RIVUS Vivere with nearly 300 rental apartments and additional infrastructure will begin in the fall. The apartments are between 54 sqm and 76 sqm in size and have open areas such as balconies, terraces or private gardens. Particular importance is attached to the family-friendliness of the complex: "In addition to the kindergarten, which is already in operation, and the numerous playgrounds and green areas, we are able to further expand the range of facilities for families with the opening of the state-of-the-art all-day primary school and marvellous rooftop sports facilities", Andreas Holler says.
The immediate proximity to the river Liesing with its cycling and walking paths, the excellent infrastructure in the Atzgersdorf district and the convenient connection to the city centre provide an all-around attractive living environment with a high level of recreational value for the residents.
