Revitalisation and a new, elegant building: BUWOG’s “Inside XIX” project celebrates topping out

11/7/21

BUWOG is currently developing 116 new residential units on the site of the former district administration building at Gatterburggasse 12. In the prestigious surroundings in the midst of Döbling, the original building is being carefully revitalised and extended to include a new building together with the architecture firm Atelier Heiss. The topping out took place on 4 November 2021. Completion of the entire project is planned for 2022.

With the “Inside XIX” project, BUWOG Group GmbH is developing a total of 116 new condominiums in Vienna's 19th district: 15 apartments in the original building, including a penthouse, and 101 apartments in the new building. “Style and elegance are the special features of this project. The combination of old and new creates an unparalleled living experience in a timeless ambience, in which we are successfully implementing BUWOG's customary high-quality requirements combined with the highest architectural standards”, says Andreas Holler, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH. “It is an enormous pleasure to have come one step closer to completion of the project in 2022 with the topping out, and I would like to extend my thanks to all the partners involved, who are making a valuable contribution with their substantial commitment and expertise.”

Daniel Resch, district council chairperson of the 19th district was present at the topping out. “The fact that the historic walls of the former district administrative building will offer people a home in the future makes me very happy, of course, for it underlines our efforts to furnish something old with a new use while simultaneously preserving the Döbling townscape,” Resch says about the BUWOG project, which combines the old and the new.

Exclusive living ambience with high-quality fixtures and fittings

Once completed, the residential units of “BUWOG Inside XIX” will meet the highest living standards – also due to the high-quality fixtures and fittings: for example, most of the apartments in the original building feature high ceilings, double doors, oak herringbone parquet flooring and old Vienna-style fittings. A smart home system will also be installed. Upon completion, the penthouse apartment on the top floor of the original building will be compelling with an optimal room layout on two levels and an impressive gabled ceiling, where the district administrative building’s clock was one once viewed from the outside. The 101 apartments in the new building will also be equipped with a smart home system and high-quality parquet flooring, and in the future will feature open areas such as balconies, terraces, loggias or private gardens. Common features of all the residential units in the original as well as the new building will include smart ventilation, auxiliary floor cooling and underfloor heating, as well as high-quality sanitary facilities and fittings.

Housing in a prime location

The location has excellent connections to Vienna's public transport network. Tram line 38 stops directly at Gatterburggasse and connects Vienna's first district (Schottentor-Universität stop) directly with Grinzing. Likewise, tram line 37 takes you from the city centre to Gatterburggasse and, after only a few stops, on to the sports facilities of Hohe Warte and Döblinger Bad. Both tram lines offer direct access to Vienna's underground network. The nearest underground station is less than a ten-minute walk away at the Wien-Spittelau station (U4, U6 as well as various urban rail lines and regional trains). The access roads to Vienna's central through roads and city motorways can be reached within a few minutes' drive. In addition, the project has an underground car park with 119 parking spaces (partly equipped with charging stations) on three levels.
